Important Notice: We do not offer notarization services for Form I-9 or immigration-related documents. According to California law, notaries who are not qualified and bonded as immigration consultants under the Business and Professions Code Sections 22440 to 22449 are not permitted to complete or certify Form I-9, even outside of a notarial role. The California Secretary of State considers Form I-9 to be an immigration form and restricts its handling accordingly.

Prepare For Your Appointment

All signers must bring valid, current identification issued within the last five (5) years. Acceptable forms include a California Driver’s License, U.S. Passport, or U.S. Passport Card. Photocopies, pictures, or scanned IDs are not accepted.

If you do not have one of these forms of ID, please see our ID Requirement page for a list of valid alternative forms of identification you may bring to your appointment.​​

Bring the entire document requiring notarization; it cannot have any missing pages. Document must be fully filled out---except for the signature section(s) needing notarization---prior to the appointment. Have it ready for a cursory review at the time of the appointment.

Signers must be able to communicate directly and clearly with the Notary Public in English. Translators or translated communication are not permitted, as required by the California Secretary of State. We do not offer translation services.

Legal questions must be directed to an attorney prior to the appointment. California Notaries Public are prohibited from providing legal advice or guidance regarding the content or implications of documents.

Buster Brooks Mobile Notary Appointment Courtesy & Cancellation Policy:

Be on time and fully prepared for your scheduled appointment. Delays can impact other clients and may result in additional fees or forfeiture of your deposit.

Have all necessary documents ready and completed (except for signatures) prior to the appointment.

Review our Cancellation Policy in advance to understand any applicable fees for late cancellations or missed appointments.

Government Code section 8205 states that a notary public may not notarize a document that is incomplete. If presented with a document for notarization, which the notary public knows from the notary public’s experience to be incomplete or is without doubt on its face incomplete, the notary public must refuse to notarize the document.
Form I-9 & Immigration Document Disclaimer
We can not provide notarizations for Form I-9 or immigration documents. California Notaries who are not qualified and bonded as immigration consultants under the Business and Professions Code Sections 22440-22449, may not complete or make the certification on Form I-9, even in a non-notarial capacity. The California Secretary of State considers Form I-9 to be an immigration form.
